It also provides reassurance that officers have the right level of skills and knowledge, which they apply in a transparent, consistent manner which meets clearly defined standards. The Immigration Officer training pathway also supports operational delivery in the wider Home Office and across the whole of the Civil Service. Seven out of ten civil servants work in operational delivery, ranging from border control to court administration, benefits and pensions processing and giving advice on tax. Much of the public’s perception of the Civil Service is formed by how well these services are delivered.
